No matter where your talents lie, join us and discover how we can advance health together.Occ SummaryThe Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-g oing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The technician delivers telemetry toi ntermediate units and performs monitor hook-up/discharge, patient preparation, and teaching related to the monitor. -Work Performed -Maintains ongoing, high-level survellance of patients' cardiac rhythms and notifies nursing/clinicians of any rate/rhythm changes according to clinician/provider orders. Measures and interprets patients' heart rhythm and documents on patient record per departmental standards. Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge. Performs configuration as necessary. Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from Central Telemetry. Answers telephone and communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers . Uses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm. Orients and mentors new staff members. Serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both Central Telemetry and clinical areas. Troubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Clinical Engineering as appropriate. Gives report to oncoming shift. Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations. Maintains and stocks all designated equipment, including telemetry, and transport monitors. Replaces defective equipment and reports failures to Clinical Engineering. Adheres to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors. Develops a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical staff and responds to questions/requests from healthcare providers. Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the Mission, Vision,and Values of DUHS. Performs other duties as requested. -Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -Knowledge of basic anatomy/physiology of the heart. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and the general public. Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods of time. Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non-emergent requests.
