Enbridge Gas North Carolina has an opening for a Supervisor - Gas
Operations. The Operations & Maintenance Department is responsible
for providing safe, operations and maintenance of our natural gas
distribution system and other company facilities, locating
underground distribution lines and emergency response.
This position is located at the Company's Concord Operations Center
in Concord, North Carolina.
What You Will Do:
- Supervises, completes human resources activities, leads daily
activities, and manages performance of a diverse team of operations
employees for the Company's Concord Operations Center.
- Manages transactions with internal and external customers,
local and state officials, and trade allies to ensure that
customers' needs are consistently met in a safe, timely, and
profitable manner
- Resolves customer inquiries and complaints about Enbridge Gas
NC regulated and non-regulated work
- Ensures North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC), Department
of Transportation (DOT), environmental, and company standards are
followed consistently as company personnel perform natural gas
emergency response, meter installation, and other regulated duties
to provide and maintain a safe and reliable system
- Leads emergency response activities including emergency
response, repair and restoration of natural gas service in a timely
and safe manner; rotates as supervisor on-call
- Oversees, directs, and provides technical assistance in order
to develop and maintain a knowledgeable, diverse
workforce.
- Takes steps to ensure daily activities are aligned with
Corporate Strategic Initiatives
- Prepares and leads regular employee meetings including business
review, safety, and environmental updates
- Responsible for scheduling maintenance and repair of company
vehicles and facilities
- Develops, reviews, monitors budget goals and employee
productivity
Who You Are:
7+ years of directly related experience plus High School diploma or equivalent; or 5+ years directly related experience plus Associate's degree; or 3+ years of directly related experience plus Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Disciplines: Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the Natural Gas
industry.
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Availability for natural gas emergency response during the
workday, as well as in the evenings and some weekends.
- Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response
time from the geographical center of the Concord, North Carolina
area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for Enbridge
Gas North Carolina and candidates are required to consistently meet
this requirement, including when acting as Supervisor
on-call.
- Strong, demonstrated leadership traits including the ability to
effectively manage conflict and model the Company's values and Code
of Ethics and Business Conduct; and share ideas and expertise to
accomplish goals.
- Experience maintaining a sustained focus on work quality and
safety.
- Ability to train, coach and mentor a team of diverse employees
and foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience handling constantly changing and
emerging priorities and scheduling/prioritizing work.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures,
codes/standards and contracts.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate
both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
in a competent and professional manner.
- A working knowledge of computers with experience using Word,
Excel, Outlook, LDF and CAD/SFS.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
Preferred:
- A working knowledge of Sales Force and/or SAP
- Bilingual (Spanish) fluency
Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):
Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 45 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
Other Working Conditions
Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field - both outside in varying weather conditions and inside customers' premises.
Position requires travel throughout the service territory with frequent stops, entering/exiting the company vehicle, safely parking in a wide variety of situations, and driving in construction zones.
Military service members and veterans with a rank of E-5 or higher plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
